“This allowance which applies to many people is still valid for the 2022/23 tax year. Many tax payers are losing out on this allowance. It has been introduced to take into effect the fact that there are household expenses which are incurred by people who work from home and while the additional expenses will vary from person to person this broad brush approach of the Government in introducing a flat rate allowance gives some recompense for this additional expense.
In reality there would in all likelihood be a saving realised by tax payers who work from home. this would be achieved because of the savings which are made in travel costs getting back and to work.”Nigel Holland
