1 in 10 UK employees don’t receive payslips, while 1 in 20 are missing out on their legal holiday entitlement, reports think tank the Resolution Foundation.

The Resolution Foundation’s analysis into UK labour market violations has been released to mark a three-year study into enforcement. In 2018, HMRC identified a record of 200,000 cases of workers not receiving the National Minimum Wage (NMW).

Additionally, the Resolution Foundation says a 25% of those earning within 5p of the minimum wage are paid less than the legal minimum. Their research shows that 10% of workers do not receive a payslip, making it near impossible for them to calculate whether they are receiving the right level of pay, pension and holiday entitlement, and check Pay as You Earn (PAYE) deductions.

The research also showed that 20% of workers receive no paid holiday entitlement despite being legally entitled to at least 28 days’ paid holiday a year.

“Make sure you receive a payslip every time you get paid. If you do not receive payslips make sure to ask your employer for them. You need them to be able to make sure that you’re getting paid the right amount and that your deductions are correct. If producing payslips is a problem in your business, contact us and to find out what services we can provide to your business.”
