The government has been urged to impose a three-year moratorium on all new employment laws.

The call came from the British Chambers of Commerce after the business group published research suggesting that forthcoming new regulations, together with planned tax rises, could cost firms billions. The BCC also wants the increase in NICs, due for April 2011, to be dropped.
